This trio might be planning their next coup de popcorn as they conspire on the pilings. We have had a few beach trips where one gull stood watch while the other crept nearer and nearer until he dove into our beach bag and snitched a bag of popcorn. Quickly taking flight to feast at a safer distance, lest we take back what was ours. I think the movie that had gulls clamoring, "Mine, mine" was probably quite accurate. If we could translate their calls, that might be the very word! The rich blues, muted browns and blacks and feathery blooms thanks to a sprinkling of sea salt and its interplay on wet paint have created a soothing nautical feel.
